I Think I Could Live Here

We just got back from an amazing few days in Santa Barbara.

We stayed at a beautiful hotel - right on the beach.

Our room faced the ocean and you could hear the waves pounding throughout the night.

I've never slept better (maybe the down bedding and chocolate mints on my pillow helped a bit).

I'm not the only one who wishes we could live here.

These girls could stand and stare at the ocean waves for hours.

That's Little K and her Best Bud (that we stole away for the weekend).

Our resort was simply Glorious 

(the most over used word of the weekend - but the perfect way to describe everything around us).

I'm in love with the Spanish architecture and details.

Look at those beautiful tiles in our bathroom.

Notice the bath spigot? The water just flowed out of the wall...like magic.

Did I mention the overhead Rain Shower?

The Hotel grounds there were filled with secret gardens, lush flower filled planters and trickling fountains tucked around every corner. 

Sigh

More of those hand painted colorful tiles. Yes Please!

Check out this gigantic tree. We named him Ferdinand - because a tree that fantastic has to have an equally powerful name!

We did venture out one day to go Horse Back Riding.

This was my horse.  His name was Chief - Scout - Major - Commander - or something that means person in charge, I never could remember. 

Maybe that's why he didn't listen to me very well?

Hubby and Me - looking kind of spiffy after spending several hours on the back of a horse.

Yes - I definitely think WE could live here in Santa Barbara.

Happy Housiversary

One year ago - I was standing on the front porch of our new home waiting for the Moving Truck (OK....that would be Moving TruckS) to arrive.

I can hardly believe we have been here for a year now. I still have a few boxes that need to be unpacked - and a long list of home decor and improvement ideas - but I'm feeling very comfortable and settled.

Thought I would share some of the beautiful sights of our new hometown that we have enjoyed over the past year.

Walk With Me

One of the things on our Summer Fun List - is to take a Photo Walk.

I don't now how we ended up choosing the first day that the temps hit over 100 degrees - maybe not the best planning, but we had a great time.

Little K invited a friend along, and the three of us set out along the shaded (and not so shaded) path from our house to a nearby park, with our cameras in hand.

We each captured some of the same images, but it's interesting to see how different they can look from a another persons vantage point.

Rescued Bulbs

I have these sweet little bulbs popping up all over my back yard.



Poor little things have been chopped down by the lawn mower over and over again.



Their tiny little tops being cut off just when they think it's safe to peek out of the ground.

So today I rescued them. Dug them up from the yard.

I have no idea what they are:
Daffodils?
Narcissus?
Paper Whites?



With any luck - we'll find out soon enough.



They have been propped up in a pretty glass bowl, filled with pebbles and water and now sit by my kitchen window ready to drink up the sunshine.



I hope those little roots stretch their legs - right now they look pretty cramped and uncomfortable.



There are plenty more. These will be transplanted elsewhere in the yard. Somewhere safe from the lawnmower.



Next time - remind me that I have a perfectly good potting bench where these sorts of gardening adventures should take place instead of in the kitchen.

Better go mop up the muddy floor.

It's beginning to feel like Spring - at least today.

Arizona Night Sky

Taking a moment to appreciate the Sunset.

The sky lights up like this nearly every night here in Arizona, but I rarely get to see it. Cleaning Up from dinner, Packing Lunch, Snuggling with Little K, they all keep me occupied inside while the day comes to an beautiful end outside.

Maybe tomorrow we'll sit outside together and watch the sun go down. The dishes can always wait until after dark!
